Following an extensive national search, Charleston School of Law President J. Edward Bell, III, has announced that Jonathan A. Marcantel has been selected as Dean of the Law School, effective immediately.
Marcantel will become the fourth Dean in Charleston Law history. Marcantel joined Charleston School of Law faculty in August 2011 and has served as Interim Dean and Professor of Law since November 2024
Prior to joining the faculty, Marcantel served as the Associate Dean of Assessment at the Lincoln Memorial University-Duncan School of Law.
“Dean Marcantel brings the necessary experience needed at Charleston School of Law,” said President Bell. “His tenure — 15 years — has not only been an asset to our school, but his leadership and guidance have helped Charleston Law as we continue to grow. We are fortunate to have Dean Marcantel as a leader at Charleston School of Law.”
Dean Marcantel graduated from the College of Charleston, cum laude, with B.A.s in political science and history. Thereafter, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
