Charleston School of Law Professor of Law Nancy Zisk will retire, effective August 1, 2026.
As a founding faculty member and cornerstone of Charleston Law, Professor Zisk has played an indispensable role in shaping both our institution and the generations of students it serves. Over the course of twenty-two years, she has exemplified academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and unwavering dedication in her roles as a professor, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and inaugural Associate Dean for Faculty Research & Development.
“Professor Zisk’s influence extends far beyond the classroom,” said Law School President J. Edward Bell III. “She has been a guiding force in cultivating our academic standards, a generous and devoted mentor to countless students, and a trusted, respected colleague to faculty and staff alike. Her contributions to legal scholarship and faculty development have left an enduring mark on our community and will continue to benefit the School for years to come.”
President Bell and the Board of Trustees have conferred upon her the distinguished title of Professor Emerita. The conferral of emerita status recognizes not only her distinguished service but also the lasting legacy she has built—one defined by leadership, integrity, and a profound commitment to legal education.
