Anastopoulo recognized as Professor Emeritus

ANASTOPOULO RECOGNIZED AS PROFESSOR EMERITUS

Constance Anastopoulo

Charleston School of Law Professor Constance Anastopoulo has been recognized by the Board of Trustees and has been conferred the status of Professor Emerita, effective August 1, 2026.

“Professor Anastopoulo has served as a mentor and an admired educator, achieving the rank of Professor of Law and being named Professor of the Year by law students,” said President J. Edward Bell III. “She has played a vital role in building our faculty at Charleston Law.”

In 18 years of service at the Law School, Anastopoulo made significant contributions to the Law School and the legal community. She has been recognized as an “Influential Women in Law” and as one of the “South Carolina 500,” celebrating the most powerful leaders in higher education.

Professor Anastopoulo is a respected member of both the South Carolina Bar Association and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, and is a recognized authority on South Carolina insurance law, a widely published author of law review articles and book chapters on insurance law.

During her service as President, Professor Anastopoulo led the school’s transition to a 501(c)(3) entity. She developed essential institutional policies and utilized her background as an investment broker to strengthen our financial structure. Additionally, she worked closely with the Board of Trustees regarding governance and accreditation standards for law schools.

Her dedicated advocacy and achievements also include her leadership in creating the Office of Institutional Advancement to build an endowment for long-term financial stability and to support the institutional mission.
