In celebration of the 20th Anniversary, Charleston School of Law recognizes the historic event that took place on May 19, 2007 when the founding class graduated.
“They had to be risk-takers,” said the late Dean Richard Gershon. “They paved the way for everyone that comes after them.”
The Class of 2007 consisted of:
“Charleston School of Law is a different kind of school,” said retired Judge Alex M. Sanders. “It is a school that is devoted to the practice of law as a means of rendering public service. There was great skepticism about that when we began … but, boy, they produced public service well beyond any requirements.”
Today, the mission — Pro Bono Populi (for the good of the people) — remains vibrant with law students recording 17,754 hours of pro bono service during the 2024-25 academic year.
