Beth Bailey is a visiting professor at Charleston School of Law. Bailey teaches Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing (LRAW), bringing her more than 24 years of litigation experience to the classroom. She is a Charleston-based attorney, and prior to joining Charleston School of Law, her practice included commercial litigation and related practice areas, contract negotiation and development, risk analysis and mitigation, and trial administration, including working with multiple in-house counsel in their roles.
Bailey has tried numerous cases to verdict and often assists counsel in jury selection and motion practice. She taught LRAW twice as an adjunct while remaining in full-time practice, and she is often asked to speak nationwide on employment, non-profit governance, conflict management, and leadership. She enjoys assisting local non-profits and mentoring the next generation of lawyers.
While in law school, Professor Bailey was a member of the Moot Court Bar, Order of the Barristers, 2001 National Moot Court Team, Phi Delta Phi, and Senior Articles Editor, ABA Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal. She was a fellow for Professor F. Ladson Boyle. She was also active while a student at the University of South Carolina Honors College as a member of the USC Judicial Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Mock Trial team, and interning for Senator Ernest F. Hollings and the South Carolina Legislative Council.
