Malagrinò selected as Riley Fellow

Charleston School of Law Associate Dean for Faculty Research & Development/Professor of Law Dylan O. Malagrinò has been selected to participate in the Riley Institute’s intensive five-month Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI) program. Malagrinò joins 41 other leaders from across South Carolina to develop the skills and perspectives necessary to leverage diversity in their organizations in ways that drive social and economic progress.

“I just know I can learn a lot from the others who will be in my class of Riley Fellows, and I will become more aware of the great work they are already doing in South Carolina, which will help me better serve my students in Charleston Law,” said Malagrinò.

The Riley Institute’s mission is to “empower emerging and established leaders—across sectors and throughout society—with the knowledge and tools to advance equity and drive social and economic progress in South Carolina and beyond. The Institute works to strengthen public education; to promote the power of diversity to help teams, organizations, and communities thrive; and, to elevate informed, evidence-based approaches to critical public issues. In all it does, the Institute is committed to nonpartisanship and a bias-free path to change.”

Charleston School of Law Riley Fellows

Graduates of DLI become Riley Fellows, members of a robust cross-sector network of over 2,800 South Carolinians that includes corporate CEOs, legislators, superintendents, religious and nonprofit heads, and business and community leaders. Riley Fellows are selected through a rigorous application and interview process after being nominated by past Riley Fellows. Participants are selected for the Riley fellowship based on their capacity to create impact within their organizations and communities.

Malagrinò is an 11-time Professor of the Year recipient. In 2021, he also received the Order of the Silver Crescent, South Carolina’s highest civilian award for significant contributions, leadership, volunteerism, and lifelong influence within a region or community—awarded for contributions to legal education.

Malagrinò joined the faculty of the Charleston School of Law in 2017, after ten years of full-time law teaching. He teaches Property I & II, Land Use, and Wills, Trusts & Estates, among other courses.
