“The scholarship committee was incredibly impressed by Ms. Ivory’s continued commitment to extracurricular and community involvement after college and into law school,” said Judge R. Allyce Bailey, Chair SCBLA Scholarship Committee. “Being involved in undergraduate school is one thing but finding the time to serve in various capacities as a law student is commendable.”
Charleston Law Professor Erica McElreath recommended Ivory for the scholarship, noting that Ivory has the “IT Factor.”
“This stood out to the committee demonstrating that not only does she possess the necessary skills to succeed academically, but also possesses the qualities and attributes that present her as a well-rounded person with a quality personality, all ideal for a successful lawyer,” added Bailey.
The Scholarship is presented by the late legendary civil rights attorney and United States District Court Judge, Matthew J. Perry, Jr.
