Charleston Law Professor, Students Attend Prestigious Advocacy Program at Oxford University

Charleston School of Law Professor Suzanne Chapman joined an international faculty to teach a course in Comparative Trial Advocacy at Oxford University through Stetson Law’s study abroad program.

The program’s faculty featured esteemed professors from both the United States and abroad, providing a rich comparative perspective on trial advocacy and international legal systems.

Six students from Charleston School of Law were accepted into the highly competitive program, where they engaged in an intensive curriculum designed to sharpen their courtroom skills.

Students explored the similarities and differences in legal traditions across borders, gaining valuable insight into how justice is pursued around the world. Over the course of the program, students delved into comprehensive case theory development, advanced witness examination techniques, and the art of persuasive storytelling—key elements in mastering trial advocacy.

“The Oxford course was an incredible experience for our students,” said Professor Suzanne Chapman. “The program’s global approach offered Charleston Law students a unique opportunity to sharpen their advocacy skills on an international stage while receiving valuable feedback from knowledgeable practitioners from the United States and abroad.”
