Mary Lee Briggs (’13) has been named the new president of the Charleston County Bar Association (CCBA).
Briggs, a Columbia, South Carolina native, received her Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law. While at the Law School, Briggs was active in the Children’s Advocacy & Family Law Society, the South Carolina Supreme Court Family Law Bench Book Project, and the Charleston County Bar Association Student Division.
Briggs becomes the second Charleston Law graduate to be named CCBA president in the past five years (Mary A. Vosburgh ’12 served in 2022-23)
“My goal is to highlight the broad range of practice areas, recognize attorneys at all stages of their careers, and foster member engagement and inclusion,” said Briggs in a press release. “I also intend to increase our community involvement and introduce a family-friendly Bar event.”
She is a practicing attorney at Ramsdale Law Firm, focusing on divorce, child custody, child support, modification of child custody, SCDSS defense, and other family court matters.
Briggs is also a member of the South Carolina Bar Association. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science in 2008 from the College of Charleston.
The Charleston County Bar Association is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting ethics and education within Charleston County’s legal community as well as assisting the public through outreach programs and service projects. The ceremony was held at the CCBA annual meeting at the Francis Marion Hotel.
Charleston School of Law representatives will be at Soby's in Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday, March 5, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Trident United Way is offering a training program called Making Choices on Monday, March 16, at noon in 219.
