Trident United Way is offering a training program called Making Choices on Monday, March 16, at noon in 219. This training opportunity will enhance your understanding of the economic challenges faced by those seeking legal services.

Making Choices is an interactive, hands-on activity that walks participants through one month in the life of a working family trying to make ends meet. Using a simple budget exercise (and a little candy), participants are asked to make real-time decisions about housing, food, childcare, transportation, healthcare, and other basic needs—and respond to unexpected challenges such as a medical issue or job loss. The activity is discussion-based, fast-moving, and designed to spark honest conversation about trade-offs, stress, and the ripple effects of limited resources. It’s not a lecture, but it will make you think differently about poverty, systems, and the everyday decisions many families are forced to make.

Students who attend will earn one hour of pro bono credit. The training is limited to 70 students. If you are interested, please sign up on CORE.
