Kat Westbrook Rock Star Award nominees being accepted

The Charleston School of Law Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting nominations for the 2024 Kat Westbrook Rock Star Award. The honor is given to a Charleston Law student who emulates the personal qualities that Katherine (Kat) Adele Westbrook brought to the law school during her time as a student, 2020-2022.

Westbrook was a fiercely loyal friend with a brilliant, curious mind.  Always dependable, Kat was a rock in the way she was persistent and passionate about advocating for all members of the CSOL community. Equally, Kat was a star by and through her contagious personality and warmth that made people feel seen and heard.  She truly was a fearless advocate in the push for equality and inclusivity.

The Rock Star Award will be presented to a Charleston Law student who has demonstrated leadership within CSOL to promote collegiality, professionalism, diversity, inclusiveness, and equality. The Rock Star Award recipient will receive a $2,500 award.

Interested law students may nominate themselves or another Charleston Law student for the Rock Star Award. To apply, submit an essay that is no more than one page in length to Dean Bell, Office of Admission, jbell@charlestonlaw.edu, describing the nominee’s commitment and activities that emulate the qualities Kat exhibited at Charleston Law.

Nominees must be an enrolled Charleston School of Law student in good standing. All submissions are due by April 9, 2024.

All nominations will be reviewed by Charleston School of Law Foundation and announced by the Foundation in coordination with the Awards Day on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

The Kat Westbrook Rock Star Award is a scholarship granted by the Charleston School of Law Foundation through the generosity of the Adele A. and Harold J. Westbrook Foundation.
