Career Path Consultant

C. Roland Jones, Jr., is the career path consultant. He works with students through the mock interview program and also advises alumni in solo practice.

Before joining the Charleston School of Law as as a consultant in 2010, he was a partner in the Spartanburg law firm of Jones and Hendrix, which he founded in 1998. The firm specializes in insurance and workers’ compensation defense. Jones is currently of counsel to that firm.

Before forming his own firm, Jones practiced in the area of insurance defense with The Ward Law Firm in Spartanburg from 1983 to 1998. From 1997 to 1983, he was appointed associate judge of the Spartanburg Civil and Criminal Court. When that court was abolished due to statewide court reform, he was appointed chief judge of the Spartanburg County Magistrate Court. From 1974-75, he clerked for Chief Judge J. Robert Martin, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.

Jones also served as an assistant solicitor for the 7th Judicial Circuit from 1975 until 1977. From 1972 to 1974, he was a clinical instructor in the Clinics Program at the University of South Carolina School of Law. From 1972 until his retirement in 1993 at the rank of Major, Jones was a member of the 12th JAG Detachment, US Army Reserve.

Jones is a Spartanburg native. He graduated from Wofford College in 1967 and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1972.
