Job Description
Charleston Legal Access seeks an Office & Intake Manager to join our team. The Office & Intake Manager will oversee day-to-day office procedures and conduct intake. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with a start date of June 1, 2026.
About CLA
Charleston Legal Access is a nonprofit, sliding-scale law firm that provides low-cost, quality legal representation to those who do not qualify for free legal aid but cannot afford a private attorney. With a small, dedicated team, CLA also undertakes special projects aimed at increasing access to justice, including language access initiatives and housing initiatives.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Work Location: Onsite
- Salary Range: $55,000 to $62,000
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients
- Conduct intake screenings and sliding-scale eligibility reviews
- Manage intake database
- Assist any walk-in clients or prospective clients
- Collect financial documentation and explain fees and next steps
- Schedule consultations and manage attorney calendars
- Maintain accurate, confidential client and billing records
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, vendors, and supplies
- Collect and sort mail daily
- Process client payments and support basic billing and reporting
- Support staff onboarding and administrative needs
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with the flexibility to adapt to a range of responsibilities.
- Comfort with diverse communities and a strong commitment to access to justice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and legal software (experience with Clio preferred).
- Prior experience in a legal setting is preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required
