Charleston Law welcomes faculty and staff for 2026-27

Charleston School of Law has announced new faculty and staff for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year.

Visiting Professors Beth Bailey and Emily Lucey join Charleston School of Law faculty. Both Bailey and Lucey will teach Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing (LRAW) and Foundations of Legal Practice.

Bailey, a Charleston-based attorney, brings more than 17 years of practice experience to the classroom, including commercial litigation, contract negotiation and development, risk analysis and mitigation, and trial administration, including working with multiple in-house counsel.

Lucey, an attorney at Gallivan White Boyd, practices construction law and defends design professionals and contractors in complex construction defect cases.

Assistant Tenure-Track Professors Spencer Wetmore and Sheila Bridges.

Born and raised in Charleston, Wetmore was a prosecutor for the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office, served as the City Administrator for the City of Folly Beach, and was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 115, serving James Island, Johns Island, Folly Beach, Kiawah, and Seabrook. She will teach Torts at Charleston Law.

Bridges served as a partner at Hanson Bridgett LLP prior to arriving at the Law School. She has spent over a decade designing trusts and advising families on wealth planning. Bridges will teach Property Law this Fall.

Andrew Taylor joins Charleston Law as the Assistant Dean of Strategic Military Initiatives. Taylor will lead the Law School’s strategic plan for military initiatives and will also teach Introduction to Military Law: Role of Staff Judge Advocate. Taylor most recently served as a Lieutenant Commander for the U.S. Coast Guard in Charleston.

Brian Carlisle joins the Law School as the new Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. Carlisle earned his bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and his master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Alabama. He earned his law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. With nearly 30 years of direct student affairs experience, Carlisle has served as Dean, Vice Chancellor, and Special Advisor to the Provost.

Gina Horseman joins Charleston School of Law as the Assistant Director of Career Services. Prior to joining Charleston Law, Gina was a civil litigation attorney at Gallivan White Boyd, where she defended corporate clients in complex litigation matters, including contractual disputes and high-exposure personal injury and wrongful death suits. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Stetson University and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law.

Veronica Byrd has joined Charleston Law as Administrative Coordinator for Academic Affairs. Byrd brings 15 years of experience. She previously worked as the Administrative Coordinator at the College of Charleston. She also served as a Financial Specialist with the Dorchester County School District Two. Byrd earned her BA in African American Studies from the University of Memphis. She also has an associate’s degree in Applied Science from Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Ricky Arnold (’18) has been named Assistant Director of Academic & Bar Success. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Appalachian State University, his Juris Doctorate from Charleston School of Law, and an LLM in Taxation from Northwestern University. Arnold has also worked for Barbri, LexisNexis, and Westlaw.

Kaitlyn Mullin joins Charleston Law School as the Business Operations Coordinator. A College of Charleston graduate, Mullin earned her degree in Hospitality and Tourism. She brings extensive hospitality experience from Harbourview Inn and Patrick Properties in Charleston, South Carolina.

Orientation Week begins Monday at Charleston School of Law, with the Fall 2026 semester scheduled to begin Monday, August 17, on campus.
