Author Case Kenny to deliver Fall ‘26 Convocation keynote

Case Kenny

Charleston School of Law will welcome Case Kenny, a nationally recognized speaker, author, and podcast host, to campus on Wednesday, August 19. He will deliver the keynote message at Convocation to incoming law students.

Kenny’s message is built on the foundations of resilience, optimism, and self-awareness, values shared and embraced at Charleston Law.

“Optimism isn’t a mood, it’s a method,” says Kenny. “In uncertain times, the people who move forward aren’t always the most confident … they’re the ones who know how to talk themselves through it.”

Kenny offers a practical, research-based framework rooted in hope and encouragement.  His message will help law students build resilient strategies for professional success in the legal industry.

The legal profession faces a well-documented mental health crisis, with anxiety, depression, and burnout often beginning in the first year of law school. Kenny’s practical message will address the growing mental health challenges our law students face.

“Optimism is not wishful thinking. It’s a proven mental advantage that shapes attention, behavior, resilience, and performance. And it starts with the words we use every day.” – Case Kenny

Charleston Law’s Wellness program offers a variety of events and resources committed to nurturing our students’ well-being and success. We believe that when our students give more to themselves, they have more to give and contribute to our mission to serve the greater good. We believe in teaching our students not only to be lawyers well, but to live well.

Convocation is the school’s earliest opportunity to set expectations and values for incoming students.

The annual Convocation message will be held in the Bus Shed in downtown Charleston, while the Law School student organization fair will be held on the Charleston Law campus.
