Charleston, SC — Charleston School of Law Interim President Constance Anastopoulo has been selected as a member of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Influential Women Class of 2025.
The award honors outstanding women lawyers and judges who are making a difference in the profession and their communities. The ceremony will be on Thursday, May 8, at the Pastides Alumni Center, Columbia, SC.
“I am honored to be selected as a member of the South Carolina Lawyer’s Weekly’s Influential Women in Law class of 2025,” said Anastopoulo. “I have been a lawyer in South Carolina for more than 30 years practicing law and teaching the next generation of lawyers at Charleston School of Law. I congratulate the other members of the class.”
Last week, the Charleston School of Law Board of Trustees appointed Anastopoulo Interim President of the law school.
Professor Anastopoulo joined the Charleston School of Law in 2007. She teaches Torts, Insurance Law, Evidence and Professional Responsibility. She also serves as a faculty advisor for If/When/How, Pro Bono Society, Journal of Law, and the Latino/Latina Student Association.
Anastopoulo was a Visiting Professor of Law at the UCLA School of Law during the 2023-24 academic year. In addition, she was also a Visiting Professor at the Institute of International and Comparative Law, Stetson College of Law and later in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she taught a course on comparative laws of the right to privacy and the right to publicity.
Prior to coming to the Charleston School of Law, Anastopoulo served as senior litigator in the civil litigation division of the Charleston Law Firm of Poulin, Willey, Anastopoulo, LLC, where she managed the appellate practice for the firm.
In 2018, Anastopoulo was selected to run for Attorney General of South Carolina and was the first woman in the history of S.C. politics to run for the Attorney General’s office.
Anastopoulo has served on the Board of My Sister’s House, Inc., a non-profit shelter for domestic violence victims, the Advisory Board of the Women and Gender Studies at the College of Charleston, as Vice President of the League of Women Voters, and is a past president of the Daughters of Penelope Philanthropy. She is a member of the S.C. Bar, the Charleston Bar Association, and the S.C. Women Lawyers Association.
