Students collaborate to establish new food drive record

Students collaborate to serve the greater good this Thanksgiving

Charleston Law student organizations Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) and Phi Delta Phi (PDP) raised 3,400 pounds of food for Canned Immunity, an annual food drive during the holiday season. The canned food donations established a new law school record.

Donations were given to Lowcountry Food Bank to help families in need in the fight against hunger.

According to the Lowcountry Food Bank:

“9.6% of individuals living in the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina face food insecurity, which is defined as a lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life.”

Charleston Law students Victoria Tappan (Phil Delta Phi) and Lonnie Harvey (Phil Alpha Delta) led their respective student organizations to establish the record.

“Congratulations to Phi Delta Phi and Phil Alpha Delta in reaching this tremendous milestone,” said Charleston School of Law Dean Larry Cunningham. “Our students are tremendous examples of our motto, pro bono populi.
