Street Law Clinic hosts local high school students

The Charleston School of Law Street Law Clinic hosted more than 50 high school students for Students Leading the Way, a program to introduce high school students to the legal profession.

The event was held at the Charleston Museum Auditorium and included students from Burke High School, North Charleston High School, and Academic Magnet High School. The Street Law Clinic students took a campus tour, participated in a mock law school class hosted by Professor Debra Gammons, and a message from Shane Hursh, President of the Student Bar Association.

The Street Law Clinic teaches legal topics to students in K-12. Students from at North Charleston High School and Burke High School have are partners with Charleston Law in the program and students from Academic Magnet who are members of the Black Students Association and Teacher Cadets also attended the event.

High school students Peyton Stoy, Kaelan Tunis, Lillian Fraley, Madison Purvis, Jacob Thompson, Rebecca Wade, Sydney Mayers, Nicole Everett, and David Lowther were recognized as “Street Law Clinic All Stars.”
