2021-22 Transactional Law Team

Meet the Chairs of the first ever Transactional Law Team at Charleston School of Law. This advocacy team would not be anywhere without the help and support from Professor Jean Steadman who has been the backbone of this team, and who has always believed in us. The following 3L’s have worked exceptionally hard and dedicated their time into creating this new advocacy program, and laying the foundation for future students who are interested in transactional law.

Danielle Kimble is a 3L at the Charleston School of Law. She grew up in Florida and attended the University of Central Florida where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science concentrating on International Relations and Comparative Politics. Danielle competed in the first transactional law competition at CSOL, is a member of the Business Law Society, and is currently a legal extern at Volvo Car.

Lacey Redden is a 3L at Charleston School of Law from Austin, Texas. Lacey was a member of the first internal Transactional Law Competition at CSOL, and her teammate and her were awarded Best Contract Draft, Best Contract Markup, Best Negotiator, and Best Overall Seller. She is currently a Legal Intern at Gnosis Freight with a primary focus on contract drafting and markups. Lacey also serves as President of the Business Law Society and is a member of Phi Delta Phi.

Kaity Needs is a first-generation law student from Marietta, Ohio. Prior to attending Charleston School of Law, Kaity graduated from Ohio University. Subsequently, she worked for The Dixon Law Firm in James Island as a law clerk and paralegal. Kaity’s recent accolades include her participation in the Charleston School of Law’s Internal Spring 2021 Transactional Law Competition where Kaity and her teammate received awards for Best Contract, Best Markup, Best Seller Negotiators, and Best Overall Negotiators. Kaity currently serves as the Application Chair for the Transactional Law Team, Senator and Social Chair for the Student Bar Association, and Vice President of the Business Law Society. Additionally, Kaity is a member of Women in Law, Alliance for Equality, and Cannabis Law Society.

Mandi Cummings is a 3L at the Charleston School of Law and an alumna of Clemson University. Mandi received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and minored in Sports Communication. She enjoys college football and spending time with friends and family. Mandi is the Associate Justice of Internal Competition of the Transactional Law Team and is currently serving as the Magister of the Legal Honor Society, Phi Delta Phi. Mandi and her partner won best buyer negotiation in last year’s first transactional law competition. Mandi is a member of Women in Law, Cannabis Law Society, BLSA, and Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Lauren Tuffo is a 3L at Charleston School of Law from Fort Myers, Florida. Lauren graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and minored in English. Lauren was a member of the first internal Transactional Law Competition at CSOL where she and her teammate won best buyer negotiation. Lauren currently serves as the Chair of Media Relations for the Transactional Law Team, Secretary for the Business Law Society and Historian for the Legal Honor Society, Phi Delta Phi. Additionally, Lauren is a member of Women in Law, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Cannabis Law Society.

Jake Nixon is a 3L at Charleston School of Law. He is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Charleston 3 years ago after a vacation. On a whim, he decided to apply for law school. Fast forward 3 years and he is a Contracts fellow assisting 1L students understand contract law, an extern at Volvo working on a variety of contracts, and is the Chair of Faculty and Judge Relations for this team. He and his wife are expecting their first child, a daughter, in November.

Jared Dembski is a third-year student and is originally from Boulder Colorado. Prior to becoming a student at Charleston School of Law, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in History. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Charleston School of Law Business Law Society and is a Law Clerk at the McGee Law Firm on James Island. Mr. Dembski is interested in pursuing a career in transactional law after graduation.

Alexander Gerred is a 3L student from Cleveland, OH. Before attending Charleston School of Law, Alec received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science while minoring in Business from the University of South Carolina. Alec also received his Master’s in Security Studies at the University of Akron. Transactional Law has provided Alec the opportunity to enhance his negotiation and contract skills, while working with fellow classmates and faculty.

Madison Marcantel is a 3L at Charleston School of Law from New Bern, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from East Carolina University. Madison currently serves as Manager of the Transactional Law Team and Secretary for the Legal Honors Fraternity Phi Alpha Delta. Madison is also a member of Alliance for Equality, Black Law Students Association, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Business Law Society, and Women in the Law.
