Alumni Recorded Lecture Series

The Office of Alumni Development has worked with faculty members to record a series of short lectures on topics of interest to you. Are you looking for a brief landlord-tenant law review, an update on service of process, a summary of the most recent changes in estate and probate law, a reminder about insurance law, information on intellectual property law, an evidence refresher, some tips for defending non-violent criminal offenses, or a constitutional law update? If so, check out the Alumni Recorded Lecture Series.

Auditing a Class

Charleston School of Law alumni are eligible to enroll in classes as “auditors” free of charge. While no additional credit hours will be awarded for auditing, successful completion of your chosen professional development courses will be reflected on your official transcript.

Recording of Trust, Estate and Insurance Planning for Art Collections CLE Seminar

A representative from AIG offered an update on Trust, Estate and Insurance Planning for Art Collections to the alumni community. During this seminar, the current estate and gift tax laws and the potential impact on art collectors, along with estate planning mechanisms that can reduce tax exposure (charitable distributions, inter vivos trusts, testamentary trusts and others) were reviewed. The discussion also included the implications of the “empty hook” scenario—how heirs suffer when they eventually try and sell artwork that was clandestinely removed from the estate. In addition, the importance of a comprehensive private collections insurance policy to protect the art assets in a collector’s estate was covered.
