Alumni News: Goodyear (‘14) recognized by SC Bar

The South Carolina Bar has announced that Charleston School of Law alumnus Kathryn Goodyear (‘14) as the winner of the annual Solo and Small Firm Section Award.

The SC Bar Solo and Small Firm Section Award recognizes small firm lawyers for outstanding leadership or service to the public or legal community, was presented to the firm in honor of its service to the community.

Goodyear, the owner and attorney at Goodyear Law, has a strong presence in the military community. She was inspired by family relatives who served our country “to use her freedom to serve those who have served, with pro bono estate planning for disabled veterans, discounted estate planning for active-duty military, probate assistance for widows of disabled veterans, as well as physical service to disabled veterans,” wrote the SC Bar.

Goodyear earned her undergraduate degree in Bachelor’s in Sociology from Winthrop University with a and received my Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law. She is the second straight alum to win the award. In 2022, the Law Office of Sean M. Wilson was the recipient of the Solo and Small Firm Section Award.
