Director of Financial Aid

The Charleston School of Law seeks resumes for a Director of Financial Aid.  This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Financial Aid.  In addition, this position will provide accurate and current information to law students on topics such as student loans, the loan application process, scholarship opportunities, loan repayment, etc.  The Director of Financial Aid will be required to be current in knowledge about loan programs, loan options, federal and state loan requirements and specifications.  The Director will also ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and provide information and data for annual reports for the ABA and other related agencies and organizations.  In addition, the Director is the school’s certifying official for the Department of Veterans Affairs and will be familiar with and adhere to VA policies and regulations while managing veteran student information.  This position works as part of an Admission/Financial Aid team to help provide excellent financial aid services to students, applicants, and prospective students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required;
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in financial aid at an institution of higher education;
  • Working knowledge of graduate student aid delivery process, including federal and state statutes and regulations governing financial aid and VA Education Benefits;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse student and institutional community;
  • Excellent written, interpersonal communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential;
  • Budgeting experience and fiscal responsibility;
  • Willingness to be part of a flexible work schedule that requires limited evening hours and occasional weekend duties;
  • Proven customer service skills and enthusiasm for providing exceptional service to all;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
