Charleston School of Law Foundation

The Charleston School of Law Foundation champions student scholars and faculty endeavors, all in support of the highest intentions of the Charleston School of Law's mission. The School of Law provides a dynamic, rich academic environment in the friendly city of Charleston, South Carolina, where more than 400 students study the time-honored practice of law. Giving back is a major theme that permeates Charleston School of Law. It is one of the handful of law schools in the country that requires students to perform at least 30 hours of public service work to graduate.

"The Foundation is committed to the law school's goal of providing the highest level of legal education," said Foundation Chair Sylvia Harvey. "We want to ensure that the school has the resources to excel in these endeavors."

"We hope our graduates will share the common value when they graduate that part of their service as attorneys is to give back to their communities and make them a little better," Charleston School of Law Dean Andy Abrams said.

The School of Law offers both a fall and a spring start date. Those who begin in the spring semester can take classes through the summer and join their original class as a second year law student the following fall. Click here for more information about Admission.

Scholarship Funds

The Foundation houses and administers private and general scholarship funds. These scholarships are awarded through a rigorous process with oversight by faculty and staff.

We invite and welcome funds in honor of family members or for specific fields of interest.

Please contact giving@charlestonschooloflawfoundation.org to discuss your desire to contribute.

Faculty Programs

The Foundation contributes to the School of Law's academic achievements through talented faculty programs and offerings. We encourage donors to name a "Chair" of a department to attract outstanding professors.

Innovative Programs

As the legal environment offers opportunities to lead in justice, the Foundation will respond to community needs through special symposia, seminars, courses and institutes in full support of the Charleston School of Law's mission.

The vision of the Charleston School of Law Foundation embodies the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, trust and performance in service to others.

Mission

The Foundation exists to support, enhance and elevate the expected high level of student and faculty performance in the Law School through scholarship programs, special projects, permanent housing, social advocacy, legal outreach and dedicated public service.

The study of law by nature is a service industry. By financially supporting the student body and the award-winning faculty, the Foundation contributes to realizing the School of Law's mission in its public service, social advocacy, legal outreach and legal reform endeavors. To do so, the Foundation seeks to provide good students opportunities to attend the school.

"We want to provide opportunities to qualified students who would like to attend Charleston School of Law," Foundation Chair Sylvia Harvey said. "The Foundation's top priority is providing as many scholarships as possible."
