NOV. 7, 2018 – President Ed Bell was one of 22 attorneys and judges inducted into the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly inaugural Hall of Fame on November 6.  The complete list of 2018 honorees is available here.

The South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Hall of Fame program honors some of South Carolina’s most significant lawyers ages 60 and older based on their career accomplishments, contributions to the profession, contributions to the development of the law, contributions to the bar and the state of South Carolina, and efforts to increase justice.

Bell was recognized for assuming ownership of the Charleston School of Law at a time when its future was uncertain. He told the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly that  his dedication to the law school helps fulfill “one of his life’s dreams to mentor young lawyers and help them understand the highest goal in our profession.”

Bell, founder and senior managing partner of the Bell Legal Group in Georgetown, has achieved great success as a litigator. He also has been involved with various civil rights and public policy initiatives.

“We are so proud of all that Ed Bell has accomplished in his legal career and, most recently, in his educational career. The impact that he has had on so many lives has been and continues to be profound. I cannot imagine a more deserving recipient of this high honor than Ed,” Charleston School of Law Dean Andy Abrams said.
